GOSICK
When I started watching Gosick, I wasn't expecting much, but the dynamic between Victorique and Kujo was more than enough to keep me watching. Normally I don't care about character development, but there was some real growth here. The maturity level these kids had to display to match the very adult game they were involved in was impressive. For me, Kujo was the clear hero for this series and I developed such a bond with him because he was so believable yet courageous. The ending wasn't stellar but it was perfect for what the story was going for.
I gave Gosick an 8.

GYO
I expected to laugh at Gyo because the general idea of it sounded ridiculous. I assumed it would be a half-assed attempt at being scary so I didn't take it seriously. Gyo got my attention. Fast. Some parts of it didn't sit right with me but I wouldn't call it scary. A bit unsettling...definitely. It took a sad and depressing turn that ran through to the end but it was as realistic as a situation like that could be. Lack of answers, mass panic, devastating consequences...everything. Realistic bizarreness would describe Gyo perfectly.
